Surprisingly, these Postal Orders date from 1968 to 1971. Well past the separation of the Postal Offices and even Qatar's Independence.

How it all began.

Stamp issues have for years been used to ascertain control over far away lands and territories.

As such, regaining control over such an important element of colonial power was paramount to local rulers.

The interest in having locally designed and used stamps can be traced to a letter from 1933.
